YOUR ROLE

As a Cybersecurity Engineer with a strong focus on network security, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and integrating secure network infrastructures to safeguard critical digital assets for our clients. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of network systems while proactively identifying and mitigating potential cyber threats. You will lead simple and complex systems integration programs on critical infrastructure assets globally.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

·Design, configure, and implement secure network solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, VPNs, and other relevant technologies.

• Collaborate with the information security team to develop and enforce network security policies, procedures, and best practices.

• Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities, analyze logs, and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.

• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify potential weaknesses and recommend remediation strategies.

• Stay current with emerging cyber security threats, trends, and technologies to maintain network resilience against evolving risks.

• Implement access controls and authentication mechanisms to ensure authorized personnel have appropriate access levels.

• Work closely with network administrators to ensure proper network segmentation and isolation of critical assets.

• Participate in the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the network infrastructure.

• Collaborate with third-party vendors to assess security products and services, making recommendations for procurement when necessary.

• Provide technical support to resolve security-related network issues and incidents.

• Document network security architecture, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CISSP) are advantageous.

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer with a focus on cyber security, including designing and implementing secure network solutions. Minimum 7+ years relevant work experiene required.

• Solid understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall technologies.

• Experience with intrusion detection/prevention systems, anti-virus software, and other cyber security tools.

• Familiarity with network monitoring and logging tools to detect and respond to security incidents.

• Proficiency in network and security concepts, including encryption, access controls, and authentication mechanisms.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with cloud envronments is preferred.

• Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (eg ISO27001, GDPR) and their impact on network security is a plus.

• Familiarity with scripting languages (eg Python, PowerShell) for automation and security tasks.

• Ability to thrive in stressed, ever changing environments

• Ability to travel as required (up to 30%)

• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment.

ROLE TYPE

Full-time employee position based in Johanesburg, South Africa.

WORKING MODEL

This is a full-time position based in our Rosebank office. Remote working is not feasible.

COMPENSATION

This position will be pay market rates, depending on the experience, qualification and skills of the successful candidate.
