YOUR ROLE
We are looking for someone who will profile, research, and present to a broad range of stakeholders on tools, technologies and best practices that support effective cybersecurity efforts.
You are an insatiably curious person, who has a zeal for technology, and who is energized by the constantly shifting cybersecurity landscape. You love to learn about the differences between different solution categories and what it takes to stay at the cutting edge.
You have a mastery of the trends reshaping the cybersecurity technology landscape; a solid understanding of cybersecurity technology offerings on the market today; and a robust understanding of end-user organizations’ issues and use cases. You are passionate about conducting and writing practical research which provides highly actionable advice, and which demonstrates a unique point of view and is thought provoking.
You have outstanding problem-solving skills, work effectively on multiple research tasks simultaneously, and develop and deliver presentations to educate and support both technical and non-technical audiences. You have a positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team of highly collegiate team of world class professionals.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and maintain high quality, accurate and in-depth research enabling clients to better protect their information systems, operational technology networks, and key and sensitive people, data and assets.
Develop a deep understanding of the capabilities and resources CISOs and CTOs require to be successful as cybersecurity professionals and make organizational decisions about cybersecurity technologies. Be able to predict the tools and solutions that best prepare and enable cybersecurity professionals to defend their organizations.
Conduct primary and secondary research into key aspects of the responsibilities of cybersecurity professionals, including the relevant technology landscape and the application of those technologies to business needs regarding information and operational system security. Research includes telephone interviews, online surveys and internal and third-party data.
Maintain and deliver research projects, including establishing project plans, reporting progress, coordinating and conducting research, and providing insight and research outputs to agreed deadlines.
Collaborate with experts within Catalisto and in our broader community to develop a complete context for cybersecurity and risk management solution trends and writing reports that leverages their expertise. Build trusted relationships with leading cybersecurity thought leaders as well as technology vendors and the journalists who cover the area.
Consult with clients to apply research in the context of their specific business environment and help solve their problems with accurate information and actionable advice.
Present at Catalisto events, lead vendor briefings, deliver client webinars and field press inquiries as necessary.
Support team members in research collaboration, idea development and higher order
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or similar field.
0-5 years of practical experience with cybersecurity technology and operations from the end-user side and a technology vendor perspective; ideal candidates have formulated cybersecurity technology strategies and implemented or guided clients in implementing new processes and technologies.
Deep intellectual curiosity about the effect of technology on an organization’s attack landscape and how cybersecurity professionals can protect the organizations and people they safeguard.
Solid business instincts and a practical understanding of the challenges facing companies implementing cybersecurity cultures and structures, and the enormity of the threat landscape they face;
A creative view of markets, technologies and attitudes combined with a fascination with the future;
Excellent listening, critical thinking and writing skills. Analysts are expected to take complex, disparate ideas and distill them into simple, provocative concepts and be willing to take a stand on vendors and outcomes
Effective presentation skills, with the ability to create and deliver memorable presentations to technical and non-technical audiences
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment
A positive attitude, willing to jump in and tackle new challenges with creativity and collaboration.
ROLE TYPE
This position will be an internship position, based in Rosebank, Johannesburg, South Africa.
REMOTE WORKING
This position will be a hybrid working position, coming to the office at least once a week.
